Mike Reiss To Keep An Eye On Springfield At NYS Writers Institute

Longtime comedy writer Mike Reiss is best known for his work on “The Simpsons,” including two seasons as co-showrunner. He still works at the show, now in its 30th season. Reiss is coming to town this week for a New York State Writers Institute Event, to discuss his book Springfield Confidential: Jokes, Secrets, and Outright Lies from a Lifetime Writing for The Simpsons. Reiss will be at Page Hall at the University at Albany’s downtown campus Friday at 7:30.We've spoken to him twice on The Roundtable: once in 2016, and again in 2018, when his book was published. This is a compilation of those two interviews.

A lifelong resident of the Capital Region, Ian joined WAMC in late 2008 and became news director in 2013. He began working on Morning Edition and has produced The Capitol Connection, Congressional Corner, and several other WAMC programs. Ian can also be heard as the host of the WAMC News Podcast and on The Roundtable and various newscasts. Ian holds a BA in English and journalism and an MA in English, both from the University at Albany, where he has taught journalism since 2013.
