Behind New Album 'Liberman,' Vanessa Carlton Returns To Our Region

A lot has changed for our guest Vanessa Carlton since we spoke last in 2011 on the occasion of the release of her album Rabbits on the Run. The singer-songwriter moved to Nashville and married a fellow musician, then became a mother.

This fall has been a busy one career-wise, though: Carlton is back on the road with an extensive tour promoting her new album, Liberman. It’s the fifth full-length album for the Grammy nominee, who burst onto the charts in 2002.

Carlton will be in our region Dec. 3 at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall and Dec. 4 at Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton.  The Dec. 3 concert marks her Troy Savings Bank Music Hall debut and is a benefit for the Capital Region Coalition to End Homelessness.

A lifelong resident of the Capital Region, Ian joined WAMC in late 2008 and became news director in 2013. He began working on Morning Edition and has produced The Capitol Connection, Congressional Corner, and several other WAMC programs. Ian can also be heard as the host of the WAMC News Podcast and on The Roundtable and various newscasts. Ian holds a BA in English and journalism and an MA in English, both from the University at Albany, where he has taught journalism since 2013.
