Rochester, NY – TechGirlz is a weeklong summer camp at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) in Rochester, NY, for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girls who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. The camp uses hands-on activities to make science, technology, engineering, and math subjects fun and interesting. Students use high-tech lab equipment to solve problems, learn the basics of web design, dig in a small scale archeological dig site, and visit an amusement park to learn about roller coaster engineering. Many girls say their favorite experience is building a personal computer to take home.
