Pittsfield To Spray East Side Community For Mosquitoes Monday

Jul 12, 2019

Pittsfield, Massachusetts will carry out mosquito-spraying Monday night.

City officials say a truck-mounted spraying will be conducted from 11 p.m. to midnight in the streets around Brattle Brook and Marchesio Parks on Pittsfield’s east side. Health Department Director Gina Armstrong says the treatment comes at the recommendation of the county’s Mosquito Control Program, which hopes to curb mosquitos carrying viruses later in the season.

“This is in response to a season emergent in this particular area that is very wet and has a high population of a specific type of bridge vector mosquito.”

While requests for exclusion from the spraying can still be made, it takes for 14 days for residents to be added to the no spray list.
