Pittsfield, Massachusetts police say they’re searching a city lake for a missing New York State resident.

Lieutenant Gary Traversa says the search was triggered by the discovery Monday of a vehicle parked by Pontoosuc Lake whose owner was declared missing in New York on May 5th.

“We’re in the water, searching the water and it is — unfortunately, we do anticipate this as a recovery at this point," said Traversa. "But we are not certain, so we are exhausting all possibilities.”

The public is asked to avoid the area of Blue Anchor Park and the Pontoosuc Lake boat ramp while the search continues.
