A Vermont man accused of threatening a relative with a knife has asked to be held in jail, saying he has nowhere else to go.
Fifty-seven-year-old Edward Cameron pleaded not guilty to assault charges Wednesday at court in Rutland. The Rutland Herald reports prosecutors didn't ask for bail, but Cameron's attorney requested $50 bail because Cameron told him he had no place to stay.
The judge granted the request and also ordered Cameron to stay away from the home of his relative.
Police say Cameron threatened a female relative over an alleged parole violation.
If convicted, Cameron faces more than 16 years in prison. Cameron was still being held in county jail on Friday.
