Each Wednesday and Sunday evening at 8 p.m. “Live At The Linda” brings you some of the best musical acts to grace the stage at The Linda - WAMC's Performing Arts Studio. This week features a set from 2017 by Royal Jelly Jive, and a set from our “Open For Take-Out Concert Series” in July 2020 by The NoLaNauts.
Back in 2017 The Linda was honered to present Royal Jelly Jive. “San Francisco soul” is the best term to describe Royal Jelly Jive's unique and intoxicating sound. Led by Lauren Bjelde, this sultry sextet rocks into uncharted musical territories with their infectious blend of modern and throwback sensibilities. Armed with retro horns, razor-sharp beats, and groovy songs that are near impossible to resist, Royal Jelly Jive can pair with your fancy cocktail at that smoky jazz club or shake up even the funkiest dance party. The NoLaNauts come with the following warning label, “Warning: hanging out with The NoLaNauts can be mildly infectious. Symptoms include: loss of inhibition, careless displays of groove induced happiness, feverish outbreaks of funky fires and decadent desires. Fortunately….for all of our sisters and brothers…. There is no known antidote for this condition!” The NoLaNauts reflect years of living, visiting, immersing and loving New Orleans, its people and their rich culture. The NoLaNauts are the dream of Tom O’Connor and Brian Lawlor who have faithfully participated in every available New Orleans experience including decades of nearly religious attendance at New Orleans’ Jazz and Heritage Festival. Tom and Brian have played music together for over 30 years and seized the opportunity to assemble some of the finest musicians in the area to bring a taste of the New Orleans music scene to life in the northeast. This concert was recorded a year ago at our “Open for Take-Out Virtual Concert Series” and The NoLaNauts will be returning to The Linda on Friday July 9th.
