2019 International Blues Challenge finalist, Misty Blues, is led by lead singer/band founder Gina Coleman. Misty Blues come to us from the Berkshires playing original and traditional blues with hints of jazz, soul, funk and a dash of tent revival gospel .. The band has recorded and shared the stage with Charles Neville and opened for contemporary blues artists like tab Benoit, John Primer, Albert Cummings (whom we’ll hear a little later) and Michael Powers. The band just released their 10th album entitled “None More Blue,” this past January. So, here we go. Misty Blues featuring Gina Coleman on cigar box guitar, percussion and vocals, Bill Patroquin on bass and backing vocals, Benny Kohn on keys and backing vocals, Rob Tatten on drums, trumpet and backing vocals, Aaron Dean on saxophone, and Seth Fleischmann on guitar and backing vocals recorded live at The Linda on April 26th, 2019.

Here’s a quote from guitar edge magazine on Albert Cummings “the blues is best served up live, with an enthusiastic audience and a killin’ band, and that’s exactly what guitarist albert Cummings does. Cummings effortlessly shifts from chimney subdued stylings to raucous roadhouse raunch to soaring yet stinging lead lines, driving his audience to frenzy in all the right places.” The Massachusetts native learned the requisite three chords on the guitar from his father. In his late teens he encountered the early recordings of Stevie Ray Vaughan and was floored by the virtuosity. While in college in 1987 he saw Vaughan perform and he returned to the guitar with a new outlook and resolve. The whiz-kid carpenter began his ascent to masterful blues rock guitarist at age 27, with his first public performance on guitar. Albert appeared on The Linda stage shortly after the release of his 2015 album “Someone Like You,” he pours his heart and soul into everything he does here and his impassioned, all-inclusive style speaks directly to music lovers everywhere. His dynamic, engaging personality combined with blues musicianship at its finest has created an enduring, loyal fan base worldwide. Albert Cummings is just cool. Albert’s latest album “Believe” was released last year, and features a flavorful mix of blues country and rock ‘n’ roll. So enjoy, Albert Cummings recorded live at The Linda on November 5th, 2016.

Now, the COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating for the music and performing arts industry. But, we’re here to tell you the music lives on, and the time has come for the best part of “Live At The Linda” to come back. You, the audience, watching old and new favorites in person, live. On Saturday, June 19 we welcome live audiences back to The Linda in a joyous celebration featuring Paa Kow and his Afro-Fusion Orchestra. Tickets at thelidna.org. Over the past year The Linda has hosted virtual concerts featuring out home grown capital region musicians in a series called Open for Take-Out.

But come July, Open for Take-Out goes from virtual to actual with the announcement of the “Open for Business Concert Series,” with live audiences once again invited back to The Linda.

I’ll be there to host, and every Thursday starting in July through September we’ll have the best live and local performers playing The Linda stage, along with some special guests. Join us for Open for Business.
