Dr. Alan Chartock's Morning Commentary

WAMC's Dr. Alan Chartock discusses a deal reached on rent protections for tenants in New York, and comedian Jon Stewart's scolding speech before Congress Tuesday. He also comments on a new Quinnipiac poll showing former Vice President Joe Biden ahead of President Trump in a hypothetical 2020 matchup.

Also in the headlines: the Massachusetts House and Senate are expected to vote on a four percent, so-called "millionaire's tax" at a constitutional convention Wednesday.  If passed, the amendment moves a step closer to a place on the 2020 ballot.

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program, for almost 12 years, highlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and The Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:40 a.m.
