Applications Open For Expanded Hazard Pay Program

Vermont is starting to take applications for a second round of hazard pay for frontline workers who worked last spring during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

Officials say in this round the program has been expanded from mostly health care workers to include grocery store, pharmacy and essential child care workers who provided essential services from March 13 and May 15 and were at an elevated risk of exposure to the virus.

Former employees are also eligible for hazard pay in this round but only their employers may apply.

A total of $22.5 million is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
