Deadline To Register To Vote In Mass. Presidential Primaries Is Today

   This is an important day on the 2020 election calendar in Massachusetts.

    It is the final day to register to vote in the March 3rd presidential primaries.

    For the first time, Massachusetts will have early voting for the presidential primaries. 

    The early voting period is from February 24th- 28.

     WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Gladys Oyola-Lopez, the Election Commissioner for the city of Springfield about today’s registration deadline and the plans for early voting.

     The online voter registration system can be used up to 11:59 p.m. to register to vote in the March 3rd presidential primaries.

Paul Tuthill is WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief. He’s been covering news, everything from politics and government corruption to natural disasters and the arts, in western Massachusetts since 2007. Before joining WAMC, Paul was a reporter and anchor at WRKO in Boston. He was news director for more than a decade at WTAG in Worcester. Paul has won more than two dozen Associated Press Broadcast Awards. He won an Edward R. Murrow award for reporting on veterans’ healthcare for WAMC in 2011. Born and raised in western New York, Paul did his first radio reporting while he was a student at the University of Rochester.
