Clinton County will receive $1 million from Empire State Development’s County Infrastructure Grant Program to begin redevelopment efforts at the former Clinton Community College campus.
In 2025 the college co-located to the SUNY Plattsburgh campus, leaving behind a 102-acre campus. Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the grant Friday to support planning, design and construction of essential water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure and roadway improvements needed to make portions of the property ready for development. The improvements will support a proposed 96-unit workforce housing project and prepare for additional mixed-use development.
North Country Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Garry Douglas says the grant “begins addressing two important regional priorities at once by creating new housing opportunities and preparing a major property for future economic activity.”
