The Vermont Department for Children and Families is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Weatherization Assistance Program.
The program began in 1976, during an energy crisis. Services include repairing or replacing heating systems, installing insulation and energy-efficient lighting and appliances, and energy audits.
An estimated 1,310 low-income households saved an average of $853 on heating costs during fiscal year 2025.
