Plans Announced For Springfield's September 11th Remembrance

The September 11th memorial in Springfield, Massachusetts is located in Riverfront Park. Since 2019 it has been the site of the city's annual remembrance ceremony.

Ceremony will be held on the eve of the 20th anniversary

The first responders who died on 9/11 will be honored again during an annual observance in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Because it is the 20^th anniversary of that fateful day, there are some changes to the remembrance ceremony.

For one, it will take place on the evening of September 10^th

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Judy Matt, president of Spirit of Springfield, the nonprofit that has directed the observance for the last 18 years.
