On Tuesday, June 1st, New York State will open an online portal for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program. ERAP, supported by federal funding, is intended to assist individuals and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the first 30 days of the rent relief program, first priority will be given to households at or below 50 percent of the Area Medium Income that include individuals that are facing long-term unemployment, veterans, survivors of domestic violence or human trafficking, those with a pending eviction, residents of a mobile home, and those in communities disproportionately impacted by the COVID crisis.

Across the state, county governments are partnering with local non-profit organizations to assist applicants.

Shelters of Saratoga is assisting Saratoga County in the effort. WAMC’s Lucas Willard spoke with SOS Executive Director Duane Vaughn on Midday Magazine.
