Smoke and flames from the crash south of Exit 12 on Wednesday

Traffic ground to a halt for hours as three lanes of the Adirondack Northway in Saratoga County were shut down for the second time in less than a month Wednesday.

All three lanes of I-87 northbound were blocked after a disabled truck was struck by a passenger vehicle, causing both vehicles to catch fire.
According to New York State Police, the crash occurred after a FedEx truck became disabled after 10 a.m. in the center northbound lane between Exits 11 and 12 in the Town of Malta.
By 10:30, cars were backed up as crews worked to douse flames and clear the wrecked vehicles. Lanes reopened around 1 p.m. No one was injured.
On April 14th, all three southbound lanes of I-87 were blocked after a truck struck a bridge south of Exit 9 in the Town of Clifton Park.
