Rep. Peter King Announces Retirement

Rep. Peter King

Longtime New York Congressman Peter King of Long Island has announced he is not running for re-election next year.

The Republican, who will retire after 28 years in Washington, says he will miss “fighting for the people” of his district and America.

In a Facebook post Monday morning, King wrote about his accomplishments including his work for 9/11 victims, recovery efforts after Superstorm Sandy, and being “consistently cited for bipartisanship.”

King also stated he intends to vote against President Trump’s impeachment and that he will support the president’s bid for re-election.
