A long-awaited section of a trail network in Saratoga Springs cleared a hurdle Wednesday, allowing construction to begin.

The Geyser Road Trail would begin near Saratoga Spa State Park’s entrance on Route 50 and extend west to the Milton town line. The multi-use trail is part of the planned Saratoga Greenbelt Trail network.

The Geyser Road section had previously been tied up in litigation with property owners.

On Wednesday, Saratoga Springs Mayor Meg Kelly announced that all legal matters have been resolved. With funding secured and engineering work completed, construction is set to begin. Kelly said the trail will be a “huge asset” to the City of Saratoga Springs.
