Amsterdam, New York Mayor Michael Villa is seeking a second four-year term. The Republican, a former police officer and son of former Amsterdam Mayor Mario Villa, says he is running again to get the city's finances "out of the gutter," invest in infrastructure, and generate economic growth.

Villa could see a challenge from Michael Cinquanti, who plans to run as a Democrat.

I spoke with Villa on Thursday, who said his administration has made great strides in four years.
