Law enforcement officials in Orange County have charged a police officer with manufacturing and selling illegal firearms.
District Attorney David Hoovler and New York State Police have announced the arrest of 38-year-old Gregg Marinelli of Plattekill.
Marinelli, a sergeant with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police, is accused of manufacturing dozens of handguns and assault rifles, including at least one fully automatic rifle. He allegedly sold the weapons, many without serial numbers, including to members of outlaw motorcycle groups. Several weapons were seized from Marinellli's home on Thursday.
Marinelli faces numerous charges and is being held in Orange County Jail in lieu of bail.
