Local historian Tom Heitz admires two state historical markers commemorating New York state's 1827 emancipation of slaves and Susan B. Anthony's 1855 speech in Cooperstown, New York.

WAMC's David Guistina speaks with Jim Kevlin, Editor and Publisher of Hometown Oneonta, The Freeman's Journal, and AllOtsego.com, about two markers being erected in front of the First Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown, New York. The commemoration service will take place at the church in conjunction with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at 7 p.m.
