Saratoga Springs’ mayor-elect has selected a deputy.
Democrat Meg Kelly, now serving as Deputy Mayor under outgoing Democrat Joanne Yepsen, has selected Lisa Shields as Deputy Mayor.
Shields is also a current full-time employee in the mayor’s office. She has served as Yepsen’s Executive Assistant since July 2016.
In a statement, Kelly praised Shields’ organization and communication skills.
Under the Saratoga Springs system of government, the mayor and the four other city commissioners serve part-time with a full-time appointed deputy. Kelly defeated Republican Mark Baker for the two-year term earlier this month.
