State funding to build a new rescue boat launch for a local fire department along the Mohawk River has been secured.
Officials from the Town of Clifton Park and the Vischer Ferry Fire Department were joined by Republican State Senator Jim Tedisco on Wednesday on the banks of the Mohawk River where Tedisco presented the department with a $50,000 grant.
The money will be used to build a new rescue boat launch and dock for the VFFD on the shore of the Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve.
Officials said in a statement the support for a new boat launch is vital as recreational use of the Mohawk River and the Erie Canal is on the rise.
