A Saratoga County Sheriff’s Deputy is facing federal child pornography charges.
Sergeant Peter Farnum of Ballston Lake was arrested early Wednesday morning, accused of possessing thousands of images of child pornography, downloaded between 2015 and 2016.
Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo issued a statement Wednesday evening saying the department has “cooperated fully in the continuation of the investigation culminating in his arrest today.”
Zurlo offered his condolences to Farnum’s family. Farnum was suspended without pay.
The Daily Gazette reports Farnum’s defense attorney Cheryl Coleman questioned the evidence in the case.
If convicted, Farnum faces up to 20 years in prison.
