Severe Storms Cause Flooding In Hoosick Falls

A state of emergency was declared Saturday night after severe thunderstorms swept through the Town of Hoosick and Village of Hoosick Falls in Rensselaer County.

Travel was banned on several roads after severe flooding and washouts.

Hoosick Falls Mayor Rob Allen declared the State of Emergency around 9 p.m.

A damage assessment was being conducted Sunday morning.

Several residences and businesses in the community with private wells have had point-of-entry-treatment systems installed to remove the chemical PFOA.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says residents POET systems may contact the agency regarding the impact of the flooding on filters at 1-888-459-8667.
