A state-owned car used by Franklin D. Roosevelt when he was governor of New York is heading into the shop for some repairs.
Governor Andrew Cuomo was at the State Museum in Albany on Tuesday as workers prepared the 1932 Packard for shipment to an antique vehicle expert in Connecticut.
Cuomo says the car was very important to the fellow Democrat, who served as governor from 1929 until his election as U.S. president in November 1932.
FDR used the vehicle while he was in Albany. It became part of the state fleet after he moved to the White House.
Museum officials say the Packard, which racked up 40,000 original miles, was rarely used after 1942.
Cuomo plans to drive it on ceremonial occasions. He has the 2018 opening of the new Tappan Zee Bridge in mind.
