NY County Leaders Gather In Albany

wikipedia

Officials from each of New York's 62 counties are traveling to Albany for an annual conference on the challenges facing the state's local governments.

The New York State Association of Counties says the three-day legislative conference, which begins Monday, will attract more than 900 attendees from around the state.

This year's big topics include the need for state funding for 911 and the public defenders system, the ongoing heroin and opioid epidemic and the proposed upstate expansion of Uber and Lyft.

County leaders are also expected to discuss Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo's proposal encouraging local governments to find ways to share resources and team up on services.
