Glens Falls To Remember Former Hockey Coach Bill Dineen

The life of a professional hockey player and coach who guided a Glens Falls team to two championships will be remembered today at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Bill Dineen, a former professional hockey player with the Detroit Red Wings, coached the Adirondack Red Wings for six seasons, from 1983 to 1989.

During that time, the Wings won two Calder Cups and Dineen was twice named “Coach of the Year”.

Before the start of Saturday’s Adirondack Thunder game, thousands held a moment of silence for Dineen after news of his death. He was 84.

Calling hours will be held inside the Civic Center today from 2 to 5 p.m.
