A candidate for New York’s 49th State Senate district is withdrawing from the race.

Republican Nancy Nugent, a Northville-based attorney, announced on her Facebook page this week that she was suspending her campaign.

Citing a lack of petition signatures, Nugent said she would return the only two contributions.

Republicans Christian Klueg, also of Northville, and longtime Capital Region Assemblyman Jim Tedisco, and Democrat Chad Putman, are remaining in the race to replace Senator Hugh Farley, a Republican who is retiring after four decades.
