With word that a former top aide to Governor Cuomo is under investigation, the Governor has ordered his own probe into a major economic development project in Western New York.

The Daily News says former top Cuomo aide Joseph Percoco and SUNY Nanotech chief Dr. Alain Kaloyeros are part of a probe by the U.S. Attorney, Preet Bharara, of the project known as the "Buffalo Billions."

The Governor has appointed Bart Schwartz to lead a state probe. Schwartz once worked as an investigator in the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York; the same office now engaged in the ongoing investigation into the "Buffalo Billions."

Cuomo says allegations of improper lobbying and undisclosed conflicts must be resolved by the Federal investigation, but he says the state investigation will give a thorough review of grants made to the Buffalo project.
