State police are seeking information about a newborn baby boy found dead in a trash container near a Columbia County convenience store.
Troopers say someone called to report a baby outside an XtraMart in Livingston around 3:40 a.m. Friday. Officers couldn't find the baby at first, but eventually located it in a garbage bag in a trash receptacle.
Medical technicians from the Greenport Rescue squad determined that the baby boy was deceased.
An autopsy at St. Peter's Hospital determined the death to be a homicide by asphyxiation.
