UPDATE: Police located the missing swimmer Sunday morning. He has been identified as 43-year old Gewandatt Ramjit.

Emergency crews were called to the banks of the Mohawk River in the Town of Glenville Saturday night after a reported missing swimmer.

The Daily Gazette reports authorities searched near Lock 8 Saturday evening after a call from people fishing at the site after they saw a man disappear under the water.

Glenville Police Department Lt. Richard Conley told the newspaper the man was swimming between Maalwyck Park and the Isle of the Oneidas when he was last seen.

A state police helicopter was called in to help with the search, as well as boats from local fire departments and the Schenectady County Sheriff's office. The search was suspended at 9:30 p.m. due to darkness. The search continued Sunday morning with assistance from a State Police dive team.
