2 Police Officers Shot In Troy, Suspect Dead

Two Troy police officers were shot Saturday night in the Capital Region city's Lansingburgh neighborhood.

According to the Troy Police Department, officers Chad Klein and Joshua Comitale were responding to a report of a carjacking. The incident happened in the area of 112th Street and 5th Avenue.

Comitale was shot in both of his lower legs. Klein was shot in the shoulder at close range. Both were transported to Albany Medical Center and are expected to survive. Comitale underwent surgery Sunday morning.

The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Thaddeus Faison, sustained gunshot wounds in the shootout with police. Police chief John Tedesco said Faison was tazed at the scene.

He later died of his injuries. In all, more than 20 shots were fired at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
