New York State is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the two convicted murderers that escaped from an upstate prison on Saturday.
As of Sunday afternoon police were still searching for inmates Richard Matt and David Sweat, who escaped from the Clinton County Correctional Facility in Dannemora.
During a conference call with reporters, Governor Andrew Cuomo asked the public to make “no hesitation” in reporting suspicious behavior and to call 911 if they have any information.
“After the apprehension or arrest, or conclusion of this matter, we then will go through the exact details of what they did and how they did it and make sure that it never happens again,” said Cuomo.
The governor said the men may have traveled out of state. The escape is the first at the maximum security facility. The building was constructed in 1865.
