The New York Racing Association (NYRA) hopes to continue to operate the Saratoga, Belmont and Aqueduct tracks.

The New York Racing Association reorganization board has ratified its new chairman.

At NYRA’s first board meeting of 2015 Wednesday Anthony Bonomo was officially welcomed. Former board chair David Skorton stepped down last year.

Bonomo thanked Skorton for his service and said he looked to work with all involved in the racing industry.

“We all collectively have an obligation to work together to make our sport, New York racing, the best it can be.”

The board also recognized the service of Saratoga Springs resident Charles Wait, who recently resigned after 30 years on the board. The new state budget pushed back NYRA’s reprivatization into 2016.
