Former National Guard Recruiter Sentenced For Raping 2 Women

wikipedia.org

A former recruiter for the New York National Guard has been sentenced for raping two women he met through his military duties and attacking a third woman.

Washington County prosecutors say 36-year-old Robert Haas was sentenced Friday to 19 years in state prison. Haas pleaded guilty to rape, strangulation and criminal sex.

Haas was arrested in April 2014 and charged with raping a woman at his home in Kingsbury, 50 miles north of Albany. Authorities say other women then came forward to say Haas had also sexually assaulted them.

Prosecutors say Haas met two of his victims while working as a National Guard recruiter in Watervliet, near Albany. National Guard officials say he was removed from that job in 2013, months before his arrest.

Authorities say Haas drugged two of his three victims.
