Cuomo Releases Ethics Reform Plan

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo

Governor Cuomo has said he would risk a late state budget this year to get ethics reform passed in New York.

The governor late Friday released his ethics reform plan as 30-day budget amendments.

Under the plan, all public officials in New York State will have to report income of $1,000 or more that is earned outside of their official government jobs.

In addition, no member of the legislature or a legislative employee could receive compensation in connection with pending legislation or a resolution.

The Cuomo plan would also amend the state constitution to revoke the pension of anyone who violates the ethics laws. The plan would also reform the per diem expenses paid to members of the legislature for their time spent in Albany.
