Special Elections Set For May 5

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has set May 5 as the date for two special elections.

Cuomo issued the proclamation Friday, the deadline to set the special election dates for two open seats.

The 11th Congressional district seat on Staten Island is open following the resignation of Republican Michael Grimm, who pleaded guilty to a felony tax evasion charge in January.

There’s also a race brewing to replace Brooklyn Democratic Assemblyman Karim Camara of the 43rd district, who is joining the Cuomo administration to direct the new office of Faith-Based Community Development Services.
