The family of Darryl Mount Jr., a man who died earlier this year from injuries sustained during a police foot chase in Saratoga Springs on Labor Day weekend 2013, has filed a lawsuit against the city.

The Saratogian reports the lawsuit filed Tuesday claims the Saratoga Springs police department violated Mount’s civil rights.

Mount was chased by police after allegedly pushing his girlfriend near the busy Caroline Street bar scene. Police claimed they lost sight of Mount during the chase, and he was found with severe injuries at the base of a scaffold.

Mount’s family and supporters have protested and claimed police brutality since the 2013 incident. Mount suffered a coma as a result of his injuries and died eight months later.
