NY Corruption Commission Holds 1st Hearing In NYC

en.wikipedia.org

A group of top New York and federal prosecutors is scheduled to testify at the first public hearing of the state's new anti-corruption commission.

The session in New York City this evening is the first of several planned to consider if additional laws and regulations are needed to address misconduct by public officials.

Confirmed speakers include U.S. attorneys Preet Bharara and Loretta Lynch and Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.

Federal prosecutors made several indictments and arrests involving current and former state legislators in recent months, adding to a record of dozens of arrests over the last seven years.

Others seeking to testify needed to complete a form by Monday to reserve time to speak.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo created the Moreland Commission to investigate public corruption in July.
