NY Military Engineers, Police Help Flood Recovery

Contingent of New York National Guard soldiers has been sent to the Mohawk Valley to help with the recovery from the past week's flooding.

State military officials say about 180 engineers with heavy equipment and 50 military police were getting to work Wednesday with residents and businesses to clean up and repair flood damage.

Staging out of the Utica Armory, the engineers were initially set to work in Mohawk and Ilion. The military police were joining local authorities in Oneida, Little Falls, Mohawk, Van Hornesville, Herkimer, Schuyler, Ilion and Middleville.
