Albany, NY – Well Detroit may not have a king or queen, but the city has found its prince...

Sources say free agent first baseman Prince Fielder and the Tigers have agreed on a nine-year, $214 million contract. Fielder slugged 38 homers and drove in 120 runs last season to help Milwaukee win the NL Central.

In other baseball news, the Giants and ace Tim Lincecum have agreed on a two-year deal worth $40.5 million, and the Yankees and catcher Russell Martin have agreed on a one year, $7.5 million deal.

To the ice, last night in New York, Henrik Lundqvist stopped all 22 shots he faced, pitching a shutout in the Rangers 3-0 win over Winnipeg.

In New Jersey, Ryan Miller made 27 saves as the Sabres snapped a 12-game, road losing streak with a 2-1 shootout win over the Devils.

In New York, Clarke MacArthur's overtime goal lifted Toronto over the Islanders 4-3.

In Washington D.C., Mathieu Perreault's hat trick led the Capitals to a 5-3 win over the Bruins. Boston's goalie Tim Thomas was benched for the game, a day after skipping the White House ceremony honoring the team for its 2011 Stanley Cup Championship. Thomas said he stayed away because the federal government "has grown out of control."

Elsewhere, Tampa Bay doubled up Columbus 4-2, Nashville skated past Chicago 3-1, Dallas blanked Anaheim 1-0, Vancouver beat Edmonton 3-2 in a shootout, Phoenix held off Ottawa 3-2, San Jose shutout Calgary 1-0, Minnesota downed Colorado 3-2, Pittsburgh edged St. Louis 3-2, and Philadelphia dumped Florida 3-2 in a shootout.

To the NBA, last night in Charlotte, Tyson Chandler poured in 20 points and pulled down 17 boards, as the Knicks snapped a six-game losing skid with a 111-78 rout of the Bobcats.

Elsewhere, Orlando dropped Indiana 102-83, Miami got by Cleveland 92-85, Toronto topped Phoenix 99-96, and Portland pounded Memphis 97-84.

In other NBA news, the Wizards have fired head coach Flip Saunders following the team's 2-15 start.

In college football news, Hundreds of mourners paid their respects to Joe Paterno at a public viewing on the Penn State campus. The all-time winningest coach in D-I football will be laid to rest later today.

In NFL news, sources say the Raiders reportedly will hire Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen as their new head coach.

And at the Australian Open, Petra Kvitova knocked off Sara Errani in straight sets to reach the semifinals. She'll take on Maria Sharapova, who eliminated Ekaterina Makarova.

In Men's action, Andy Murray moved into the semis with a straight set win.
