Albany, NY – Well the Giants eliminated the Super Bowl champs...

Yesterday in Green Bay, Eli Manning's 37-yard touchdown pass to Hakeem Nicks gave the Giants a 20-10 halftime lead, and New York cruised in the second half, posting a 37-20 win over the Packers. The Giants, who've won four straight playoff games on the road, will get a chance for a fifth next Sunday when they travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers in the NFC championship.

Meanwhile in the AFC, Baltimore's fierce defense forced four turnovers, leading the Ravens to a 20-13 win over the Texans, and a date next Sunday with the Patriots in the AFC Championship game in Foxborough.

To the NBA... Golden State downed Detroit 99-91, Utah surprised Denver 106-96, and San Antonio got by Phoenix 102-91.

On the ice... Washington doubled up Carolina 2-1, Montreal skated past the Rangers 4-1, Chicago edged San Jose 4-3, Edmonton held off Los Angeles 2-1, Anaheim dumped Vancouver 4-2, and Pittsburgh pounded Tampa Bay 6-3.

In baseball news, Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia and the Red Sox have agreed on a one-year deal, and sources say former Yankees pitcher Bartolo Colon has agreed to a one-year deal with Oakland.

In college basketball news, a prison inmate who accused former Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine of sexually molesting him more than 40 years ago, has admitted that he made up the claim. The accuser, Floyd VanHooser, says in a letter that he lied to police and to the AP and the Post-Standard in December interviews.

And in tennis, the first Grand Slam event of 2012, the Australian Open, is under way Down Under.
