Albany, NY – Well the two-time defending champs are done...

On the hardcourt in Dallas, Jason Terry sank 9 of 10 from behind the arc, as the Mavericks eliminated L.A. 122-86 in Game 4. Dallas will host either the Grizzlies or Thunder in the conference finals.

After the game, Lakers coach Phil Jackson announced his retirement, calling his career a "wonderful run." Jackson leaves as the most successful coach in NBA history with 11 titles.

In Atlanta, Josh Smith scored 23 points, as the Hawks soared over Chicago 100-88, evening the eastern conference semifinal at two games apiece.

To the ice in San Jose, Tomas Holsmtrom's tally snapped a 3-3 tie with just over 6 minutes remaining, as Detroit rallied past the Sharks 4-3. The Red Wings still trail the Western Conference semifinal 3 games to 2.

To baseball now in Texas, where Derek Jeter ended a 62-game home run drought by going deep twice, in the Yankees 12-5 romp over the Rangers. The Bombers remain tied with Tampa Bay atop the American league east.

In Boston, Adrian Gonzalez went 3 for 5 including a homer and 2 RBIs, as the Red Sox dropped Minnesota 9-5. They've won 2 straight.

Elsewhere in the AL... Oakland held off Kansas City 5-2, L.A. got by Cleveland 6-5, Detroit downed Toronto 5-2, Tampa Bay beat Baltimore 5-3, and White Sox edged Seattle 5-2 in 10.

Over to the NL in New York, Andre Ethier went 2 for 4 including a two-run shot, as the Dodgers doubled up the Mets 4-2, snapping New York's three-game win streak.

Elsewhere, St. Louis edged Milwaukee 3-1, Cincinnati blanked the Cubs 2-0, San Diego got by Arizona 4-3, Florida whipped Washington 8-0, Pittsburgh nipped Houston 5-4, San Francisco shutout Colorado 3-0, and Atlanta dumped Philadelphia 5-2.

And in tennis, second-ranked Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal 7-5, 6-4, to win the Madrid Open.
