Towanda, PA – The natural gas company at the center of a spill this week in Northern Pennsylvania has put a stop to its operations throughout that state. WAMC's Greg Fry reports...

Chesapeake Energy Corporation officials stopped operations at all of their Pennsylvania wells until they know more about the cause of a spill in Bradford County Tuesday.

The accident, somehow related to a well head connection, caused thousands of gallons of drilling fluid to be spilled, but there has been no definitive word on possible contamination to nearby water sources. Residents nearby the well were evacuated from their homes.

Company officials said Thursday that they were able to significantly reduce the flow of waste water from the spewing well.
