Researcher Discusses Voter and Youth Participation in Political Process

Plattsburgh, NY – Dr. Henry Milner is a research fellow at the University of Montreal and the Institute for Research in Public Policy. He's a visiting professor teaching American Politics at Umea University in Sweden and for a time was Chair of Canadian Studies at the Sorbonne. Milner is well known for his research and books on public engagement in the political process. One of his best known works is Civic Literacy: How informed Citizens Make Democracy Work . Milner lives in Montreal and periodically visits the Plattsburgh State campus - in 2005-06 he was the Canada-US Fulbright Visiting Scholar. He was on-campus this week to talk to students about youth participation in the political process. North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley had a chance to talk with Dr. Henry Milner about youth involvement and how the US compares with other countries in civic engagement.
