Gillibrand introduces Dairy Bill

By Dave Lucas

Albany, NY – Freshman Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand has announced her first piece of legislation: A measure to ensure Dairy Farms remain a viable part of New York State's economy.

Gillibrand is one of three members from the Northeastern United States that sit on the House Agriculture Committee. She is sponsoring The American Dairy Farmer Protection Act , aimed at improving milk prices for dairy farmers.

The bill seeks to continue the Milk Income Loss Contract, which is set to expire later this year, at its original level.

Capital District Bureau Chief Dave Lucas reports.
