Vermont Yankee Radioactive Storage Debate

Vernon, VT – Vermont Yankee officials are pushing for permission to store highly radioactive waste in dry casks on its plant property in Vernon. Key lawmakers are warning the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant's owners that they may not win legislative approval for such storage quickly nor easily. Critics of the nuclear plant say its simply part of the owner's strategy to force an uprate and re-licencing. WAMC's North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley has more.
