Two vehicles crashed on Interstate 89 Wednesday morning during a road rage incident

Vermont State Police are investigating a road rage crash on the interstate north of Burlington that sent the drivers to the hospital.

Troopers responded to the southbound lanes of I-89 around 6:30 Wednesday morning. Two vehicles had crashed and were blocking both lanes.

Police say witnesses said the drivers, 22-year-old Griffin Lestage of Fairfax and 58-year-old Richard Lambert of Richford were involved in a road rage incident for several miles and traveling at high speed.

Both drivers lost control when Lestage hit Lambert’s bumper and both then collided with rock ledges.

The drivers were taken to the UVM Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.  Both were ticketed and the crash remains under investigation.
