Most COVID-19 restrictions in Massachusetts will end this Saturday.

Following the Memorial Day weekend, City Hall and other municipal buildings in Springfield will fully reopen for people to conduct their city-related business in-person.

Mayor Domenic Sarno announced he is ending his weekly COVID updates.  The first one was held on March 16, 2020.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Sarno about the city’s plans for emerging from the pandemic.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
